Sahabat Anak Kota Tua

Sahabat Anak Kota Tua began after the successful annual event, The Sahabat Anak Jamboree XV, which 1,100 marginalised children attended. Amongst those 1,100 children there were around 40 street children who had come from the newly recruited area Kota Tua.

Sahabat Anak Kota Tua came about as a result of the Sahabat Anak Jamboree. The bimbel was initiated by the chaperones (volunteers at the Jamboree) because they wanted to maintain the friendship they had developed with the children from Kota Tua. They also wanted to help these children access their rights to have an education and to play.

There are now 12 volunteers who routinely teach and tutor around 73 children. They conduct the tutorial classes every Sunday from 3pm to 5 pm at the yard beside the Indonesia Post Office building in Kota Tua.
